South Dakota - Mt. Rushmore

Seriously! How much better does homeschooling get? We spent weeks familiarizing the boys with places that we'd be visiting and their historical background. When we finally saw these locations they were beyond excited. One of my favorite memories from this trip was of Weston getting his first up-close view of those stone faces. He completely freaked out yelling: "I can see them! I can't believe I can actually see them!"

The boys participated in several "Junior Ranger" programs.

The 1/12 sculpture made by the actual sculptor.

Trying to give Leify a drink from the water fountain while in his backpack.

Receiving their junior ranger badges.
These are a big deal in our house.
