A different perspective

If you've heard the recent news story involving an officer shooting an un-armed young black man, you probably immediately draw conclusions. It's hard not to.
I stated reading this book about a month ago after hearing the authors interview on NPR.
It's an amazing account of a young, petite, white woman, from a well to do family, who went to live in the subberbs of Philadelphia for 6 years.
Her accounts of police brutality, and a severely deficient justice system are disgusting. Never allowing young black males (especially) to get ahead in life, and incarcerating at an alarming rate. It begs the question, has slavery been abolished or just disguised?
Have we dressed the KKK in navy blue and given them a nightstick and handgun, and encouraged brutal force wherever they see "fit"?

I encourage you to read her work with an open mind.

Sk8er Boys

Apparently the owner of Classic Slice is a skater, so he blocks off the street next to the restaurant, puts up ramps, and guys ride in on their skateboards from all over. Dinner and a show! Why couldn't our home be in Bayview?

My love affair

As most of you know, I am happily a married women, but it's time to confess. I have been having an affair for quite some time. He's a neat freak like me, he's helpful, he works while I sleep....
Ok, it's my Roomba. Seriously though, my best friend Kate has been singing their praises (they have 2!) for years, but I never wanted to fork over the hefty price tag. However, while out rummaging with my mom, I snagged one in like-new condition for $5!!!
It's amazing! I start it before bed or leaving the house, and I come back to a wonderfully clean floor.
It's made me appreciate the vast galaxy of technology so much more. I've started looking up helper robots, and automated systems. Call me lazy, but for this mom of 5, if I can find an extra 20 minutes a day, thanks to a robot, that's cool with me. Now, if I can just find a robot to load the dishwasher:)
