A date with me

I don't know if I'll ever not have a problem with taking time for art. It's completely selfish and I hate it when parents (including me) are selfish, but dang it! Sometimes an hour alone, late at night, feels so good! Mark had taken the older three out to a movie and the twins were sound asleep so I practically ran to my art studio and (and then ran to the freezer and then back to the studio:))
I also completed a bigger piece but it may or may not be for a certain mother of mine so I won't picture it until after her birthday.

This post reminds me of something I heard once (https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2008/10/happiness-your-heritage?lang=eng). It always makes me feel better about taking time for myself that's creative time. Like this, about how God himself is creative: "Heavenly Father is able to accomplish these two great goals—the immortality and eternal life of man—because He is a God of creation and compassion. Creating and being compassionate are two objectives that contribute to our Heavenly Father’s perfect happiness. Creating and being compassionate are two activities that we as His spirit children can and should emulate." Or this about how part of our purpose is find joy in creation: "But to what end were we created? We were created with the express purpose and potential of experiencing a fulness of joy. 4 Our birthright—and the purpose of our great voyage on this earth—is to seek and experience eternal happiness. One of the ways we find this is by creating things." Anyway, reading this reminds me not to feel guilty about creative time. I love your work, by the way! Can't wait to see your mom's present!

I'm super confused. What is selfish about you pursuing your passion of art? (Ps I love your work and your heart for creating new things with clay!) but seriously. Explain your thoughts on selfishness so I understand how much you're ripping me to shreds behind my back. ;)

Keegan, thanks! That's encouraging and a perspective I hadn't considered yet.

Holly, you're funny! You are one of THE best mommies I know:)
And thanks! I'm having loads, and loads of fun with this medium. It's borderline obsessive!
