Oshkosh Airshow 2015

Neither Mark nor I have ever been to the Oshkosh Airshow. So, when an old friend from SMAT (Mark's Aviation school) offered us two FREE tickets, we jumped at the chance to have our first day-long date in over 15 months!

Before we had even parked, the excitement began with the GoodYear blimp circling the field.

This is Nathan (a buddy from SMAT). He now teaches at the new SMAT headquarters in Ionia. It's crazy to see how much the school has grown since we left MI.

It's hard to get a good grip on how magnificent these big-bellies beauties are.

This is the brand new F-35!

             My fav: the F-22 Raptor

A B-52 Wheel

Another friend of Mark's (pictured later) works on DC-3's, including this one, converting the to turbo-props.
They had this particular plane in their hangar for quite some time and although they new it flew in WWII they didn't know until recently that it actually lead the DDay invasion.

So, he gets to be a part of restoring this historic bird.

My sweet date

A teeny, home built, that's taking two years to travel the world.

The show began with a patriotic jump.

This was a cool Wright Brothers remake. The pilots were even dressed in old-timey costumes.

Later in the day we met up with Les his wife Elizabeth, and they're sweet little girl Chloe (who looke a ton like Leif).

After catching up, we quickly decided that the Anderson's were way cool:)
And we're hoping to hit the zoo with them later this summer.

After a long hot day, we stopped by Olive Garden to grab dinner. After a GF mixup I received my meal for free!
A yummy ending to a fun-filled day.

*of course, this date wouldn't have been possible without the combined efforts of both of our parent's who split shifts watching all 5 boys. Thanks Grandparents!
