The Twinnies Turn One!

This time last year life was rough. After a pretty awful pregnancy, we had an emergency c-section to deliver our sweet babes. The boys spent a total of 10 days in the NICU (8 for Laiken and 10 for Leif). It was heart wrenching but it also taught mark and I a lot about ourselves and each other. Now, a full year later, we're celebrating an amazing 365 days with these little miracles.
Here's what they've been up to lately:

Leif is wild physically. He's the first to attempt a daring climb and ride his rocking horse while standing. He's tiny, but solid, and super strong. He's also more reserved emotionally. Less willing to greet strangers and always has to be aware of mine or Mark's location for security. If he's afraid of something (like a dog for instance) he will force himself to touch it, all the while trembling with fear.
He's sweet, and smart. He loves Oliver, and frequently begs for him to scoop him up.
He's Finley's "twin". He looks just like Finley and shares many of Finn's quirks.
He says Dadda, hot dog and Laiken.

Laiken is also crazy, but in a totally different way. He's very emotional. High highs and low lows. He's quick to snuggle and give big sloppy kisses. He also acts like he's the only baby in the house. We could die from cuteness when he pretend sneezes.
He lays his head down on the left side of his highchair while eating.
He has been the first to stand on his own. He's loves taking things from Leif and holding them over his head.
He still weighs a pound or two more than Leif.
He also says Dadda, hot dog, Ella, and Holly (the name of a family-friend's daughter).

There is an undeniable magic in having twins. They're a miracle. I still marvel at their pregnancy, delivery, and growth.
We're wildly thankful for these monkeys every day. I couldn't imagine life without them.
