I stated reading this book about a month ago after hearing the authors interview on NPR.
It's an amazing account of a young, petite, white woman, from a well to do family, who went to live in the subberbs of Philadelphia for 6 years.
Her accounts of police brutality, and a severely deficient justice system are disgusting. Never allowing young black males (especially) to get ahead in life, and incarcerating at an alarming rate. It begs the question, has slavery been abolished or just disguised?
Have we dressed the KKK in navy blue and given them a nightstick and handgun, and encouraged brutal force wherever they see "fit"?
I encourage you to read her work with an open mind.
