The Twins Turn 2!

Having twins is amazing! Seriously. Crazy fun. Even with two, our love for them is not spread thin. They are so spoiled with affection, it's wonderful.
Laiken is sugary sweet. We often say "Laiken loves life" or "Laiken was made for fun". He's a deep thinker and enjoys engineering. He likes to know how things work and why. He's very affectionate and wears his heart on his sleeve. He and Weston have formed quite a bond and have many similarities. He's copying most any word you ask him to say but he and Leif are still conversing with each other via their hums and grunts. Super interesting. Mark and I just watched them sit on the couch tonight and talk and talk to each other without really opening their mouths.
He has taken to calling Leif "baby". It's funny to think that he probably pictures himself as older than Leify.
He enjoys art a great deal already and I feel comfortable letting him sit with messy mediums because he's careful and really enjoys the process.

Leif is wild. He has so much energy packed into a tiny little body. He's athletic and brave. He'll climb and jump before he even has a chance to be scared. It's his competence that makes us sit back and watch more than intervene. Leif frequently reminds us of Finn. Both in looks and demeanor. Sort of a blast from the past.
He's very concerned about Laiken. Always making sure that Laiken received the same treat as he did, and he's quick to share.
Leif and Oliver are best buddies. Oliver scoops him up and totes him around the house like a little monkey.
It's great practice for being a daddy!
Leif is also extremely sweet, and goofy. He's got a whole catalog of faces that he'll put on for a show.
Leif's speech is not quite as developed as Laiken's but I feel like it's more of a preference than an lack of ability.
Yesterday he said "Daddy here yet?" As if he'd been talking all along.

We started off their birthday checked celebrations with yummy food (nummies)

Then they blowed out their birthday pies.
