Oh to be glutened again...

We were riding in the car and I thought oliver was sleeping, because he was so quiet, when out of the blue he says "I wish I could be glutened again."
It broke our hearts. Mark then asked him which foods he missed and he had a whole list, as if he'd been just waiting for us to ask.
It included:
Hamburgers with a bun
PB&J
Cheeseburgers with a bun
...

I know that we're doing the right thing for them based on the proof in their behavior, digestion, overall health, and the scientific evidence, but thats neither here not there to a 3 yr. old.
I guess we'll just have to make a bigger effort to let them I indulge in a gluten free manner.

Anything you want, you got it!

Mark and I had planned today as a total kid day.
When the boys woke up we told them we would do ANYTHING they wanted to. Play anything, go most anywhere, and feed them most anything.
I thought it would take a while to catch on but Oliver immediately said "I want to go outside with no pants on!", followed by "I wanna drive". We quickly realized that we'd have to lay down a few rules, but I was really surprised how well Oliver understood the concept and he definitely worked it.
Here are a few requests from the day:
"Don't put your other leg in! You have to balance for three minutes." (Oliver's instructions as Mark was getting dressed. Luckily a three year old doesn't know how long 3 minutes is.)
"I want a Muffin pie for breakfast" Which was quickly followed by "I want indian for lunch!)
"I wanna ride my bike barefoot"
"I want to go to the waterpark"
"Lets go to the beach!"
"I want to rent a movie."

Are you ready for it?

The crust on this pizza was made entirely of cauliflower, egg and mozzarella. It was the most delicious pizza i've ever had! Crazy good! We even ate the crumbs:)

My barefoot boys

Tonight both boys went for a leisurely run with daddy, while I wore Weston and pulled an empty wagon:)

The beginnings of our playroom

I want ideas and theme suggestions for the boys new playroom. It's currently red (yuck) but I'll be painting it this week.
Oliver is into robots so, I was thinking of finding a fabric to tie everything together.

Paleo cheat date

We recently took the boys to Starbucks for a fun night out. They enjoyed their yummy treats in tiny repurposed espresso cups.
What we used to get:
-A grande Iced Carmel Machiatto with Whole milk
-1-2 Petite Vanilla Bean Scones
What we got:
-I got the same thing (heck if I'm gonna cheat I'm gonna cheat, right)
-Mark got an Iced Carmel Machiatto with... Wait for it... HEAVY WHIPPING CREAM (ask me and ill explain why that's healthier for you). It was a staff first for that location.
-we brought our own almond flour shortbread cookies (only 3G of sugar per amazing cookie!)

What we used to get our kids:
-organic choc milk for each of them
-scone for Oliver
-rice crispy treat for Finn
What we got them this time:
-1 chic milk cut with milk to split
-almond flour shortbread cookies

Everyone was happy and healthier than we used to be. See, even some treat cheats are pretty acceptable on a rare occasion.

My date with Finn

While daddy took Oliver to a sportsman show, Finn and I had the chance to enjoy a date.
His first activity choice. Play a game with just mommy. He loved it:)

PAG?

Oliver's reading skills have boomed (mostly on his own initiative) and he's reading or attempting to read everything.
This morning while staring down at his sweatshirt he exclaimed "mom! I readed my shirt! P A G, pag!"
I quickly realized that he had read it left to right (as taught) from the top looking down. He was disappointed to find out it said G A P:)

Oh Oliver

Yesterday Oliver and mark went on a date to an sportsman show at the state fair park. Oliver climbed a rock wall, held a real bear cub, caught a fish, played with a robot boat, ate an enormous pickle and a foot-long jerky stick.
As he and Mark were pulling out of the parking lot Oliver piped up: "I think Keiras party was a little more fun than this."
Go figure:)

Kale chips for breakfast!

I've not blogged much about our diet/lifestyle change that's taken place in the past 6 weeks, more out of fear of criticism.
Mark has been eating based on a Paleolithic diet for about a month. I joined him after a few weeks and now the entire family is on the wagon. Oliver has even embraced (and now begs for) his Kale Chips.
