Finn Update

Specs about Finley:
-As of today I am 38 weeks pregnant (only 2 weeks until my due date)
-At our last ultrasound they guesstimated that he weighed about 7lb. 7oz. (larger than Oliver at birth)
-We'll be delivering at an awesome hospital near our house with a great doctor
-We will name him Finley Devon Melby

St Patrick's Craft

I was giggling when I saw these. We spent tons of time cutting out the shapes and pasting, and then I forgot to give them to our two St. Pat's Dinner hosts. Ohwell, Oliver still had fun.

The Golden TicketI

I've always been a big fan of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory so I was super excited to see Nestle running the Golden Ticket promo. Of course Oliver had to get one (even though he didn't get to eat very much.

No ticket this time, but then again we didn't pay for it with money found in the sewer drain. Maybe next time.

The Sportsman Show

We headed out with our good friends Christopher, Madison, and Bo to yet another expo at the State Fair (our 3rd this year).

Oliver and Daddy watching the sound effects guy, I took this quick after I had said both of their names several times and got ignored:)

Oliver would like one of these for Christmas please

Madison and I weren't all that interested in the hunting or fishing gear, but we had a good time visiting, chasing the boys, and eating over-priced food.

St. Patricks Day 2010

We are lucky enough to get to celebrate one of our favorite holidays twice. Once with each of our families.
This was the Melby side.

Oliver playing with his cousins.

Our little leprechaun.

Oliver was told that he couldn't have any more cookies, but his generous cousin decided that wasn't fair.

After dinner we sat around playing Apples to Apples

More cousin love!

Oliver and his Daddy

I've noticed in the past month or so that Oliver has decided that world revolves around Daddy. He walks around the house calling for him, and gets very upset if he steps outside, even to take out the trash. I could write a lengthy list of all things he tries to do to copy Mark. We've capitalized on this phase by telling him to eat things "like daddy" or pick something up "like daddy".

"There are little eyes upon you,
And they're watching night and day.
There are little ears that quickly
Take in every word you say.
There are little hands all eager
To do anything you do;
And a little boy who's dreaming
Of the day he'll be like you.

You're the little fellows idol
You're the wisest of the wise,
In his little mind about you
No suspicions ever rise;
He believes in you devoutly,
Holds that all you say and do,
He will say and do in your way
When he's all grown up like you.

There's a wide eyed little fellow
Who believes you're always right;
And his ears are always open,
And he watches day and night.
You are setting an example
Every day in all you do;
For the little boy who's waiting
To grow up to be like you."

Favorite Recents

Oliver was especially happy and goofy on this morning.

Dinosaur

This is Oliver's Dinosaur. Oliver has decided that dinosaur is very similar to him in many ways. He likes to eat and drink the same things, he frequently asks for cheese, oranges and water after being put to bed, and he needs a kiss when he gets an owie.

Talking about Baby Finn

We're still trying to get him used to the idea of having a new baby brother.

We don't like "Ah-ki" things

Mark and I have recently noticed that Oliver has a strong aversion to anything that is, as he calls it, "Ah-ki". I honestly do not know how this happened since neither of us are germ/dirt freaks.
Anything from herbs in food, water on his hands, to good old dirt.
Mark decided to try and get him used to it, so he rubbed just a smidge of mud on the back of his hand.

Curios Georg's ABC's

This is currently one of Oliver's favorite books and has been for the past several months. We decided that we didn't like the way it read so we made up some of our own words, signs and sounds for the pages. I'm trying to download a video of him reciting them, but can't figure it out yet. Below is a list of each of the letters that he has an action for:
Me: A is for Aligator - Oliver: "Chom, chom (chomp) and makes a grabbing motion
Me: B is for Bird - Oliver: "Teet, Teet"
Me: C is for Crab - Oliver: Open and closes his hand like a claw
Me: D is for Dinosaur - Oliver: "Boom, Boom" stomping feet
Me: E is for Elephant - Oliver: Makes a trumpeting sound
Me:G is for Goose - Oliver: "Onk, onk" (honk)
Me:I is for icicle - Oliver: "Brrrr" shivering
Me:J is for Jaguar - Oliver "Rrrrrr"
Me:K is for Kangaroo - Oliver: "Boing, boing" bounces up and down
Me:L is for Lion - Oliver: Roars loudly
Me:M is for Mailman - Oliver: "Mae Man"
Me: P is for Penguin - Oliver:"Brrr" Shivers then turns pages back to icicle to show that they're both cold.
Me: R is for Rabit - Oliver: Wiggles his nose
Me: S is for Snail - Oliver: "Sooo" (slow) moves his hand like a snail walking
Me: V is for Valentine - Gets a kiss from Mom or Dad

Just like the fair

Mark recently decided to drag his grill out of the basement and whipped up these amazing Turkey Legs, just like the State Fair.

Even Oliver got in on the action.

Big Ball!

I had no idea when I bought this ball at a thrift store that it would bring this much enjoyment.
He played with it most of the night last night, and then as soon as he woke up this morning he was right back to it.
